Intro to Etching Sequential [DAY 3]

The golden age of etching was around the 17th century during the lifetime of great printmakers such as Rembrandt. In this series, students will learn how to line etch copper plates and create subtle textures through the art of the aquatint. 

This workshop meets once a week for three (3) weeks. [Saturday Mornings in April].

Linocut + Letterpress Sequential [Day 4]

Linocut is a relief printmaking technique similar to woodcut. An image is created by carving into a special sheet of artist-grade linoleum and then the surface of the carved plate is inked and printed. Join us to learn this process as well as how to transfer images to your block and how to properly sharpen your tools. As part of this class, students will also explore drawers of lead and wood type while learning the basics of typesetting. Use these new skills to typeset and print text on top of your relief prints.

Spend this Valentine's evening doing something unique together! Enjoy adult beverages and heavy hors d'oeuvres as you get introduced to the wonders of relief printing by utilizing a variety of Lego tile blocks to create a poster print.

Each participant will collaborate with their partner or work individually to design and print a 1 or 2 color piece.
